Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

This role is a patient-centric Pharmacy Technician position at Walgreens, assisting the pharmacist in pharmacy operations and building strong patient relationships. It includes an 'earn while you learn' apprenticeship program to become PTCB certified.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
• Engage customers and patients, resolving issues and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience
• Perform duties including entering patient/drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying correctness, and checking for interactions
• Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services
• Handle telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist
• Assist and support the Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities
• Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program
• Attend training requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Qualifications

• New to working in pharmacies or experienced Pharmacy Technician, willingness to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
