Pharmacy Technician II - Inpatient

About This Role

This role provides essential distributive pharmacy services and support to registered pharmacists, covering medication order processing, inventory management, and customer service. Specifically for inpatient settings, the role involves compounding, stocking, repackaging, and preparing routine IV pharmaceuticals.

Responsibilities

• Process medication orders including computer order entry, medication preparation, and assembly of items for pharmacist final check
• Maintain pharmacy inventory and supplies according to established policies and procedures, including inspection of assigned areas and use of pharmacy computer systems
• Provide customer service by taking patient’s prescriptions, documenting all required information, handling interactions courteously and efficiently, and releasing medications per policy
• Compound, stock, repackage, and batch from bulk medications for inpatient settings
• Prepare routine patient orders for IV pharmaceuticals, including compounding, preparation, and labeling of IV admixtures (antibiotics, solutions, irrigations, narcotics, parenteral nutrition, and chemotherapy)

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED
• Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or ExCPT Pharmacy Technician (NHA)
• Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or 1 year equivalent experience
• Registration as Pharmacy Technician Trainee through the PA State Board of Pharmacy

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma/GED
• Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or 1 year equivalent experience in lieu of formal training program

Nice to Have

• 1 year of pharmacy experience in respective area
