This role delivers specialty and critical care healthcare services, primarily in an inpatient setting, focusing on acute or chronic health conditions in specific populations. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive, evidence-based patient care, ensuring a healing environment by prioritizing customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, evidence-based patient care for acute patients within an inpatient setting, including daily rounds, advanced medical history and physical assessments, treatment plans, interpreting diagnostic tests, and discharge planning.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies to determine patient treatment plans and establish medical diagnoses.
- Collaborate proactively with the attending physician and interdisciplinary team to develop and refine patient care plans.
- Institute emergency measures, treatment, and appropriate stabilization for acute patient situations.
- Ensure appropriate and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for accurate medical coding and billing, and report pertinent information to the attending physician.
- Facilitate seamless communication and coordination of patient care activities with patients, families, community health services, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Assess the specific learning needs of patients and their families, delivering culturally sensitive and age-appropriate education.
- Communicate effectively with the attending physician regarding the plan of care and clinical decision-making for issues outside the Nurse Practitioner's knowledge or scope of practice.
- Maintain mandatory professional continuing education and actively participate in patient safety, quality improvement processes, and patient engagement initiatives.
- Perform hospital rounds, accurately execute physician orders, and maintain professional practice consistent with organizational mission statements and specialty-specific privileges.
Requirements
- MSN from a practicing State Board of Nursing Approved Master's Program
- National Board Certification for Nurse Practitioners through AANP, ANCC, NCC, or PNCB
- Practicing-state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
- Prescriptive Authority from the practicing state within 60 days of hire
- Drug Enforcement Agency Licensure within 60 days of hire
- CPR - American Heart Association
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies
- Current PA Physician Assistant License
- PA-C or board eligible. Ongoing successful recertification (NCCPA) as a PA-C Within 90 days of hire
Qualifications
- MSN from a practicing State Board of Nursing Approved Master's Program OR Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies
