About This Role

Assist licensed pharmacists in preparing, packaging, delivering, and charging medications while ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures. This role is crucial for maintaining efficient pharmacy operations and contributing to exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately fill medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner
  • Assure all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing
  • Respond appropriately to requests for STAT orders, routine orders, department requests, and ADC stock out bulletins
  • Refill emergency crash carts, boxes, and kits accurately and timely
  • Accurately stock ADCs in a timely manner
  • Prepackage and label oral medications and extemporaneous preparations
  • Prepare IV sterile admixture solutions and IV products accurately consistent with IV policies and procedures
  • Restock medications in IV room and conform to IV cleaning schedule
  • Perform distribution duties and adhere to pharmacy technician operational workflow and delivery schedule
  • Interpret medication labels to compounds, prepare, and maintain records of transactions
  • Prepare outpatient prescriptions for review by pharmacist
  • Prepare unit dose tablets, capsules and liquids, and surgical drugs and other specialty drug trays
  • Assist the pharmacist with the dispensing of controlled substances to patient care areas and maintain records
  • Maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications
  • Stock medications into pharmacy inventory

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Accredited training in sterile products preparation
  • Pharmacy experience
  • Possession of current Texas State Board of Pharmacy Technician License
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent; accredited training in sterile products preparation.
  • Pharmacy experience, preferred two years hospital experience
