Pharmacy Technician

About This Role

This Pharmacy Technician role supports the pharmacy team in a retail setting, ensuring operational and service excellence while assisting patients with prescriptions and providing caring service. Technicians act as the first point of contact for patients, facilitating smooth pharmacy operations and accurate, safe prescription fulfillment.

Responsibilities

• Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store
• Assist patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience, often as the first point of contact
• Ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly, patients' prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
• Provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations
• Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at each workstation
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care and resolving patient problems
• Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories
• Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and be receptive to feedback
• Remain flexible for both scheduling and business needs, and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic
• Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles
• Comply with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, controlled substance compliance, and patient privacy and security
• Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, and voluntarily staffing offsite clinics), where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification
• Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status to support preparing and administering vaccines

Requirements

• Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification
• At least 16 years of age if no state board minimum age
• High school diploma or equivalent, or active enrollment in high school, if no state board educational minimum
• Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
• Attention and Focus abilities (concentrating, pivoting tasks, confirming accuracy)
• Customer Service and Team Orientation (helping others, understanding reactions)
• Communication Skills (verbal, written, active listening)
• Mathematical Reasoning (pharmacy calculations)

• Ability to work nights and weekends

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program
• Entry level with preference for 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician or in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
