As a Pharmacy Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your CVS Health store, ensuring smooth pharmacy operations and accurate prescription fulfillment. You will be the first point of contact for patients and customers, providing caring service and assisting with various pharmacy tasks.
Responsibilities
- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone
- Complete basic inventory activities as directed, such as putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts
- Contribute to a high-performing team, embracing a growth mindset, and being receptive to feedback
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntarily traveling to other stores as needed
- Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles
- Deliver additional patient healthcare services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, offsite clinics) where allowable by law and supported by training and certification
- Complete additional licensure and training for Technician Immunizer status to support preparing and administering vaccines, where permissible
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer to Pharmacist-on-duty for questions, where permissible
Requirements
- Comply with all state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
- Attention and Focus: Ability to concentrate, pivot between tasks, and confirm prescription information accuracy
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: Active helpfulness and understanding patient reactions
- Communication Skills: Use and understand verbal and written communication, active listening
- Mathematical Reasoning: Ability to use math to solve pharmacy-related problems (e.g., drug quantities)
- Problem Resolution: Identifying challenging patient/colleague interactions and choosing best course of action
- Physical Demands: Ability to be mobile and upright for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, reach, stoop, and have close visual acuity
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program
- Entry level with no specific experience requirement given in must-haves; 1-3 years preferred as Pharmacy Technician or in a related setting.
Nice to Have
- 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business needs
