This Pharmacy Technician role supports the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence, serving as the first point of contact for patients and ensuring accurate prescription fulfillment. The role focuses on improving patient health and providing caring service within a retail pharmacy setting.
Responsibilities
- Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
- Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, creating personalized moments at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone
- Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone, and demonstrate compassionate care by solving or escalating patient problems
- Complete basic inventory activities, as permitted by law, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts
- Contribute to a high-performing team, embracing a growth mindset, and actively seeking opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic, and traveling to other stores as needed
- Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles, and CVS policies and procedures
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, offsite clinics), where allowable by law and supported by training and certification
- Support immunizations by completing additional licensure and training, preparing and administering vaccines, educating patients, monitoring adverse reactions, and managing vaccine supplies
Requirements
- Comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy (age, education, licensure/certification)
- If no state mandate, must be at least 16 years of age
- If no state mandate, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program
Nice to Have
- 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in home store and travel to other locations to meet business needs
