The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacy team by delivering operational and service excellence, assisting patients with prescriptions, and ensuring smooth, safe, and accurate pharmacy operations. This role is crucial in transforming health care for customers by improving access and providing compassionate service.
Responsibilities
- Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (i.e., production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care during interactions at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone
- Complete basic inventory activities, as permitted by law, and as directed by the pharmacy leadership team
- Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and be receptive to feedback
- Remain flexible for both scheduling and business needs, and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic
- Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles
- Deliver additional patient health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification
Requirements
- Compliance with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy
- At least 16 years of age (if state board does not mandate minimum age)
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
- Attention and Focus: ability to concentrate and pivot quickly
- Customer Service & Team Orientation: ability to help people and understand patient reactions
- Communication Skills: verbal and written communication, active listening
- Mathematical Reasoning: ability to use math for prescription calculations
- Problem Resolution: identifying challenging interactions and choosing best course of action
- Physical Demands: mobile and upright for extended periods, lift/scan/bag items, reach overhead, move fingers repetitively, close visual acuity
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program if state board of pharmacy does not mandate higher
Nice to Have
- 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in home store and other locations across the market
