About This Role

This Pharmacy Technician role supports the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence, assisting patients with prescription fulfillment, and ensuring smooth pharmacy operations. The technician will be a first point of contact for patients, providing compassionate care and contributing to a safe and inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
  • Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, creating personalized moments at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone
  • Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone, and solve or escalate patient problems
  • Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories, as permitted by law
  • Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and be receptive to feedback
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, and voluntarily travel to other stores in the market as needed
  • Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies and procedures
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, offsite clinics) where allowable by law and supported by training/certification

Requirements

  • Comply with all state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy (age, education, licensure/certification)
  • If no state minimum age, must be at least 16 years of age
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Attention and Focus: ability to concentrate and pivot quickly between tasks, confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation: actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner, notice and understand patients' reactions
  • Communication Skills: use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues, utilize active listening
  • Mathematical Reasoning: ability to use math to solve problems like determining tablet quantities, day's supply
  • Problem Resolution: identifying challenging interactions and choosing best course of action
  • Physical Demands: mobile and upright for extended periods, lift, scan, bag items, reach overhead, move fingers repetitively, extend hands/arms, stoop, close visual acuity

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program if state does not mandate a minimum educational requirement

Nice to Have

  • 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to work in home store and across the market in other locations
