Pharmacy Technician

About This Role

Support the pharmacy team in a retail setting by delivering operational and service excellence, ensuring safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, and providing exceptional customer service. This role focuses on supporting pharmacists in improving patient health and contributing to a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
• Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, creating personalized moments at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone
• Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by leadership, such as putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts
• Actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge to better assist patients
• Remain flexible for both scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic, including traveling to other stores as needed
• Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional standards, and CVS policies and procedures
• Deliver additional patient healthcare services where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification
• Support immunizations, including preparing and administering vaccines, educating patients, and monitoring for adverse reactions

Requirements

• Comply with all state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification
• Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
• Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs
• Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
• Ability to actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner and respond to patient reactions appropriately
• Ability to use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
• Ability to use math to solve problems such as determining quantity of medication to dispense
• Ability to identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action
• Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods, lift, scan, bag items, reach overhead, and perform repetitive finger movements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program if state board of pharmacy does not mandate a minimum educational requirement
• 1-3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred, or previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
