This Pharmacy Technician role supports the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence, ensuring safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, and providing caring service to patients. Technicians are often the first point of contact for patients and customers, playing a critical role in supporting pharmacy operations.
Responsibilities
- Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
- Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (i.e., production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, creating heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients
- Complete basic inventory activities, as permitted by law, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts
- Contribute to a high-performing team, embracing a growth mindset, and being receptive to feedback
- Remain flexible for both scheduling and business needs, and be willing to travel to other stores in the market as needed
- Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles, and CVS policies and procedures
- Deliver additional patient healthcare services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing), where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification
- Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status to support preparing and administering vaccines (where permissible)
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer patients to the Pharmacist-on-duty for vaccination questions (where permissible)
Requirements
- Compliance with all state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy (age, education, licensure/certification)
- At least 16 years of age if state board of pharmacy does not mandate a minimum age
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program (if state board does not mandate minimum educational requirement)
Nice to Have
- 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business needs
