This role supports the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence, assisting patients and customers, and ensuring prompt, safe, and accurate prescription fulfillment. The technician will operate as part of the pharmacy team, applying Standard Operating Procedures and effective communication.
Responsibilities
- Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence
- Assist patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience
- Ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly, prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
- Live company purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care
- Complete basic inventory activities, as permitted by law, and as directed by the pharmacy leadership team
- Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and be receptive to feedback
- Remain flexible for both scheduling and business needs, and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, and voluntarily staffing offsite clinics), where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification
- Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status to support preparing and administering vaccines (where permissible)
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and referring patients to the Pharmacist-on-duty for vaccination questions (where permissible)
- Monitor for, and respond to, adverse reactions; reporting adverse reaction events per public health requirements (where permissible)
- Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient (where permissible)
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies (where permissible)
Requirements
- Comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program (if state board does not mandate)
Nice to Have
- 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business needs
