About This Role

This Pharmacy Technician role supports the pharmacy team in a CVS Health Retail location by ensuring smooth operations, accurate prescription fulfillment, and exceptional patient experiences. The technician assists pharmacists in managing and improving patient health through operational and service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at each workstation to help pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Execute pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, creating personalized moments at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
  • Offer immunizations and other services to help keep patients healthy.
  • Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by the pharmacy leadership team, such as putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts.
  • Contribute to a high-performing team by embracing a growth mindset, being receptive to feedback, and actively seeking opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic, and voluntarily traveling to other stores as needed.
  • Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and privacy.
  • Deliver additional patient healthcare services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, staffing offsite clinics) where allowable by law and with required training.
  • Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status and support preparing and administering vaccines.

Requirements

  • Compliance with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing pharmacy practice (age, education, licensure/certification)
  • At least 16 years of age if no state board minimum age
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or active enrollment in high school/equivalency program if no state board minimum education
  • Ability to complete required company training within designated timeframe
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
  • Customer service and team orientation skills
  • Communication skills (verbal and written, active listening)
  • Mathematical reasoning skills for prescription calculations
  • Problem resolution skills
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, reach, stoop, and use fine motor skills

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program if state board does not mandate educational requirement.

Nice to Have

  • 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations
