This Pharmacy Technician role supports the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence, assisting patients and customers with prescription fulfillment and providing caring service. Technicians play a critical role in supporting pharmacists to manage and improve patient health.
Responsibilities
- Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
- Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts
- Contribute to a high-performing team, embracing a growth mindset, and being receptive to feedback
- Remain flexible for both scheduling and business needs, and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic
- Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, and voluntarily staffing offsite clinics)
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status and support preparing and administering vaccines
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer patients to the Pharmacist-on-duty for vaccination questions
Requirements
- Compliance with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
- Attention and focus to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly
- Customer service and team orientation skills
- Communication skills (verbal and written)
- Mathematical reasoning ability
- Problem resolution skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program if state board of pharmacy does not mandate a minimum educational requirement
Nice to Have
- 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations
