Pharmacy Technician

About This Role

Support the pharmacy team in a CVS Health retail location by ensuring efficient operations, accurate prescription fulfillment, and exceptional patient experiences. This role involves direct patient interaction and adherence to company procedures and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
• Execute pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, creating personalized moments at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
• Offer immunizations and other services to patients at the register and over the phone.
• Demonstrate compassionate care by solving or escalating patient problems.
• Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries, completing cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
• Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and be receptive to feedback.
• Seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge to better assist patients.
• Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles.
• Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, and voluntarily staffing offsite clinics), where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.

Requirements

• Compliance with all state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
• Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
• Attention and Focus: ability to concentrate and pivot quickly between tasks, confirming prescription information and label accuracy.
• Customer Service and Team Orientation: actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner, understand patients’ reactions.
• Communication Skills: use and understand verbal and written communication, utilize active listening.
• Mathematical Reasoning: ability to use math to solve problems (e.g., determining tablets to dispense, day’s supply).
• Problem Resolution: identifying challenging patient/colleague interactions and choosing best course of action.
• Physical Demands: mobile and upright for extended periods, lift/scan/bag items, reach overhead, move fingers repetitively, extend hands/arms, stoop, close visual acuity, lift up to 20 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program (if not mandated otherwise by state board of pharmacy)
• Entry level with preference for 1-3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician or in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
