This Pharmacy Technician role supports the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and providing compassionate patient care. Technicians serve as the first point of contact, helping patients navigate healthcare and achieve better health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, creating heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients
- Complete basic inventory activities, as permitted by law, and as directed by the pharmacy leadership team
- Contribute to a high-performing team, embracing a growth mindset, and being receptive to feedback
- Remain flexible for both scheduling and business needs, and be willing to travel to other stores in the market as needed
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing), where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification
- Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status to support preparing and administering vaccines, where permissible
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer patients to the Pharmacist-on-duty for vaccination questions, where permissible
Requirements
- Comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, licensure, and certification requirements
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
- Attention and focus to concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, and confirm prescription information
- Strong customer service and team orientation
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Mathematical reasoning abilities for prescription calculations
- Problem resolution skills for challenging patient or colleague interactions
- Ability to perform physical demands including standing for extended periods, lifting, reaching, and fine motor skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program
- Entry-level, 0-1 years of experience is preferred
Nice to Have
- 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations
