About This Role

This Pharmacy Technician role supports the pharmacy team in a retail setting, ensuring operational and service excellence, assisting patients with prescriptions, and upholding patient safety and privacy. This position involves direct patient interaction and adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
  • Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations (production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, creating personalized moments while serving patients
  • Assist patients by offering immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone, and solving or escalating patient problems
  • Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries and performing cycle counts
  • Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and be receptive to feedback
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including willingness to travel to other stores as needed
  • Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles, ensuring patient safety and privacy
  • Deliver additional patient health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and with required training
  • Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status to prepare and administer vaccines (where permissible)

Requirements

  • Compliance with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws for age, education, and licensure/certification
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Attention and Focus: ability to concentrate and pivot between tasks, confirm prescription and label accuracy
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation: actively help people, understand patient reactions, and respond appropriately
  • Communication Skills: use and understand verbal and written communication, utilize active listening
  • Mathematical Reasoning: ability to use math for prescription calculations
  • Problem Resolution: ability to identify and resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions
  • Physical Demands: mobile and upright for extended periods, lift/scan/bag items, reach overhead, repetitive finger movements, extend arms, control precision, stoop, close visual acuity

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program

Nice to Have

  • 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations
