Perishables Representative

About This Role

As a Perishable Representative, you will ensure a well-stocked and well-maintained department, providing superior customer service. This role involves preparing, packaging, and merchandising fresh products daily, while upholding all department and food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service by taking orders and assisting with product selections
• Prepare, package, label, and merchandise fresh product daily
• Scan items for production using Telxon
• Effectively merchandise products and use suggestive selling techniques to increase sales
• Make regular announcements for freshly-produced items
• Clean and sanitize display cases; properly operate and maintain equipment
• Comply with H-E-B food safety, sanitation standards, and operating procedures
• Perform department-specific tasks such as cutting and chopping fruits, designing floral arrangements, or preparing meat/seafood (depending on assignment)

Requirements

• Minimum age 18
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of Company Orientation and Safety Training
• Computer systems knowledge (Telxon, ACR, label machine)
• Strong customer service skills
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Reading and writing skills
• Planning and organizing skills
• Ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
• Ability to work with customers, staying attentive to their needs

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent)
