Payroll Specialist

About This Role

The Payroll Specialist, also known as Provider Compensation Specialist, is responsible for generating and processing payroll for assigned companies. This role involves reviewing payroll reports, interpreting contract language, and validating complex calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, process, and generate payroll
• Review payroll reports for accuracy
• Interpret contract language
• Validate complex calculations
• Compile backup for audit and SOX compliance
• Meet all outlined deadlines
• Participate as an active team member by supporting other compensation specialists in reviewing payroll and processing monthly and biweekly payrolls
• Complete special projects and other assignments as assigned by the Payroll Leadership

Requirements

• Knowledge of basic accounting principles

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in accounting, bookkeeping, or payroll-related roles is preferred
• 5+ years of equivalent work experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll-related roles

Nice to Have

• Associate's degree or 5+ years of equivalent work experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll-related roles
• FPC or CPP certification
• Experience with payroll software
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Proficient in Excel (Pivot Table, V-lookups, and advanced formulas)
• Good decision-making and judgment skills
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to work under pressure, meeting critical deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
