Payroll Specialist

About This Role

Process accurate, timely, and compliant payroll using Workday Payroll for multi-state employees. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and supports HR and Finance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll using Workday Payroll for multi-state, exempt and non-exempt employees
• Maintain and audit employee payroll data in Workday, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, deductions, and garnishments
• Ensure payroll accuracy by reviewing earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits prior to payroll finalization
• Partner with HR to ensure data integrity between Workday HCM, Benefits, and Payroll Modules
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely, professional, and confidential manner
• Assist Payroll Manager with Audit of payroll tax returns, statements, and other required reports at local, state, and federal levels
• Stay current on federal, state, and local payroll tax legislation to ensure compliance
• Prepare paperwork and documentation for payroll tax submissions to ADP Smart Compliance
• Perform basic reconciliation and auditing processes during each pay cycle

Requirements

• Proficient in payroll processing and tax reporting
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret payroll and tax records
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
• Proficiency in relevant payroll and accounting software

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required but may be substituted with two years of related experience for each year of education
• Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in payroll and tax functions
