Provide safe, courteous, and efficient transportation for medically stable behavioral health patients between Sheridan Memorial Hospital and other healthcare facilities within Wyoming and surrounding states. Ensure patient safety during transport and maintain the vehicle in safe operating condition.
Responsibilities
- Drive an organization-provided vehicle to transport patients safely
- Assist patients in getting in and out of the vehicle and safely inside their destination
- Ensure the safety of passengers with severe physical, mental, or developmental problems while in vehicle
- Assist other staff member(s) with patient de-escalation strategies as needed
- Maintain a professional image and attitude with patients, coworkers and facility staff members
- Report any driving hazards, travel delays, accidents and/or passenger incidents to the supervisor
- Complete vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections, trip log, and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Adhere to hospital policies and standard operating procedures
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid state-issued, non-expired driver’s license with no major moving violations or “at fault” accidents within the past 3 years
- Minimum of 3 years of driving experience
- Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to participate in SMH-provided training upon hire
- Behavioral de-escalation training certification or ability to participate in SMH-provided training upon hire
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of driving experience
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of safe driving practices
- Ability to read and interpret a map and operate/understand GPS devices for driving directions
- Ability to remain calm and focused in escalated or emergency situations
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions independently
- Exhibits a high degree of tolerance and patience
- Ability to adhere to HIPAA and patient confidentiality mandates
