This role involves providing outstanding customer service and administrative support to patients in a fast-paced, high-volume multi-specialty office environment, ensuring seamless patient access and continuity of care.
Responsibilities
- Warmly greet all patients upon arrival
- Register and check-in/check-out patients, either at the desk or guiding them through self-arrival technology
- Manage incoming phone calls effectively
- Collect copayments and other applicable patient payments at the point of service
- Confirm and update patient registration information and schedule follow-up appointments
- Provide follow-up for unresolved patient questions or needs to ensure continuity of care
- Apply service recovery principles to address patient service expectations
- Promote and assist patients with MyUPMC patient portal registration
- Confirm and verify insurance benefits with carriers via online systems or telephone
- Obtain patient/family member signatures for consent to treatment and financial responsibility, adhering to HIPAA
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Two years of experience in a medical, billing, fiscal, or customer service function is preferred.
Nice to Have
- Experience with personal computer-based applications and other office equipment
- Proficient typing skills
- Two years of experience in a medical, billing, fiscal, or customer service function
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems
