Patient Services Representative

About This Role

This role involves providing outstanding customer service and administrative support to patients in a fast-paced, high-volume multi-specialty office environment, ensuring seamless patient access and continuity of care.

Responsibilities

• Warmly greet all patients upon arrival
• Register and check-in/check-out patients, either at the desk or guiding them through self-arrival technology
• Manage incoming phone calls effectively
• Collect copayments and other applicable patient payments at the point of service
• Confirm and update patient registration information and schedule follow-up appointments
• Provide follow-up for unresolved patient questions or needs to ensure continuity of care
• Apply service recovery principles to address patient service expectations
• Promote and assist patients with MyUPMC patient portal registration
• Confirm and verify insurance benefits with carriers via online systems or telephone
• Obtain patient/family member signatures for consent to treatment and financial responsibility, adhering to HIPAA

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Two years of experience in a medical, billing, fiscal, or customer service function is preferred.

Nice to Have

• Experience with personal computer-based applications and other office equipment
• Proficient typing skills
• Two years of experience in a medical, billing, fiscal, or customer service function
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems
