Manage the IT aspects of pharmacy operations for UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, focusing on EPIC and Aria systems to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient pharmaceutical care. This role involves directing design and implementation of pharmacy services, integrating quality improvement philosophies, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement operational services, including dispensing and compounded product preparation
- Maintain productive, collaborative relationships with physicians, nurses, departmental managers, and clinical leadership
- Develop, implement, direct, and monitor the delivery of pharmaceutical care, ensuring patient/customer satisfaction
- Facilitate staff involvement in quality improvement, patient/professional education, and staff development programs
- Promote, support, and conduct research related to practice
- Integrate the distributive and cognitive aspects of pharmaceutical care
- Assist with recruitment, hiring, and mentoring staff through feedback, positive discipline, and performance evaluations
- Ensure provision of cost-effective drug therapy through analysis of patient outcomes and validation of care according to standards
- Maintain a current body of knowledge in service areas regarding drug therapy and technology, and complete all staff pharmacist competencies
- Schedule pharmacists to effectively cover hours of operations and on-call hours
- Assure pharmacy is in compliance with all federal and state regulations
- Assist with preparation and monitor the budget for areas of responsibility, including drug, purchased services, and personnel costs
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) from an accredited school of pharmacy
- 3+ years' experience in pharmacy operational, clinical, or administrative practice OR completion of an HSPAL postgraduate pharmacy residency
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) from an accredited school of pharmacy required. Master's degree in pharmacy administration or healthcare management (MS, MBA, MHA) preferred.
- Three (3) years' experience in a broad range of pharmacy operational, clinical, or administrative pharmacy practice OR completion of an HSPAL postgraduate pharmacy residency required. Prior inpatient pharmacy leadership experience preferred.
