This role involves managing patient services by checking patients in and out, scheduling appointments, and ensuring all necessary information is available for their visits. The associate will also handle patient inquiries, process payments, and support efficient patient flow.
Responsibilities
- Check in and check out patients for appointments
- Schedule patients for appointments, tests, and consults utilizing Cadence
- Ensure all pertinent information is available for patient visits by managing pre-arrival functions
- Prepare, maintain and update forms/records
- Provide general information to staff and patients, and serve as a resource for insurance authorizations
- Verify and update patient information, obtain referrals and/or authorizations
- Manage incoming telephone calls and confirm patient appointments
- Process patient charges, collect payments, and reconcile cash collections daily
- Assist patients with payment questions and collect copays and past due balances
- Participate in creating efficient patient flow coordinating with nursing/medical assistant staff and faculty
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-3 years of experience
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Experience working within a large, complex health care setting
- Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record systems
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and information technology)
