About This Role

This role involves frontline interaction with patients and families in an outpatient specialty clinic, performing clerical functions. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality medical care, excellent customer service, and efficient patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Check in and check out patients
  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, tests, and consults
  • Gather and verify patient demographics, insurance, and other pertinent information
  • Prepare, maintain, and update forms, consents, and questionnaires
  • Provide general information to staff and families
  • Process patient charges, collect payments, and reconcile cash collections
  • Manage MiChart in-basket notes
  • Collaborate with the nursing team, providers, medical assistants, and call center to improve patient care and enhance patient experience

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 0-2 years of experience
  • General office experience
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrated team effort
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) credential
  • 0-2 years of experience required. General office experience, preferably in a medical setting.

Nice to Have

  • Basic medical terminology
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory care clinical setting
  • Knowledge of University and Department of Internal Medicine policy and procedures
  • Experience working with Cadence and MiChart and Insurance carriers
  • 2-3 years of experience desired
