Serve as a Patient Representative responsible for greeting patients, verifying and updating their information, scheduling appointments, and handling payments within a patient care facility. This role acts as a primary liaison between patients and clinical support staff.
Responsibilities
- Maintain strictest confidentiality of patient information
- Greet patients in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner
- Verify and update demographic and insurance information upon patient check-in
- Assist patients with ambulatory difficulties
- Collect payments and accurately enter charges into the computer system
- Register new patients and verify all patient addresses, telephone numbers, and insurance information
- Answer telephone, screen calls, take messages, and convey information to appropriate parties
- Maintain a neat and orderly work and reception area
- Advise Practice Manager of problems and concerns in the Front Office and assist in problem solving
- Determine and input daily balance of charges and receipts as assigned
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent
- Knowledge of front office procedures
- Knowledge in operation of medical office technology systems
- Excellent grammar and spelling skills
- Previous typing or data entry at 40 wpm experience
Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent
- 2 years in a front office using medical management software; typing or data entry at 40 wpm experience
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and coding
- Previous two years in a front office using medical management software
