Provide highly technical and professional nursing care to assigned patients, using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Direct and supervise other assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide age-appropriate care. This role is for new graduate nurses or experienced RNs with less than one year of experience.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building
- Assume responsibility for the nursing components of the patient/family/significant other educational process
- Communicate to the team, co-workers, patients, and family members, evaluating understanding of informational manner
- Create and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and facility
- Ensure complete, accurate, and timely written communication of patient information
- Provide a therapeutic environment through safe, accurate, and timely medication and IV administration
- Take personal responsibility and initiative for performance and for professional growth and development
- Utilize the nursing process to ensure quality patient care is provided throughout the episode of care
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas by the beginning of the residency
- Current Basic Life Support Certification
- Less than one year of nursing experience (for experienced RNs)
- Ability to maintain a full-time, minimum of 36 hours per week schedule throughout the first year of the residency program
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred
- New graduate nurses or experienced RNs with less than one year experience
