Patient Care Technician - PCT CCHT

About This Role

This Per Diem Patient Care Technician role involves providing safe and effective dialysis therapy under nursing supervision, operating hemodialysis machines, and assisting in maintaining a clean environment. The position ensures compliance with health regulations and directly contributes to patient care and quality enhancement.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing detailed patient education regarding adequacy measures and disease process/access.
• Evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated.
• Obtain pre and post-treatment vital signs, weight, and perform vascular access evaluation.
• Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, including blood flow and dialysate flow.
• Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed or directed.
• Monitor patients’ response to dialysis therapy and discontinue treatment according to procedures.
• Record accurate and timely information regarding vital signs and treatment parameters and document all relevant information.
• Report significant information and/or changes in patient condition directly to the registered nurse or supervisor.
• Assist in training applicable direct patient care staff on appropriate programs under nursing supervision.
• Ensure all blood spills are immediately cleaned with appropriate disinfectant and maintain environmental integrity.

Requirements

• Recent Dialysis Experience
• CCHT (Dialysis Certification)
• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Meet CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements
• Successful completion of required state licensure, education, and training

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred. Recent Dialysis Experience Is Required.
