About This Role

Provide direct patient care and technical support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, performing specialized procedures and assisting with diagnostics to improve quality of care.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain vital signs, temperature, height/length, weight, oxygen saturation and pain scores, reporting abnormal values to RN
  • Respond to monitor alarms and ensure alarms are 'on' when activity is completed
  • Measure and record patient intake and output
  • Assist physician/provider during diagnostic procedures and assist in specimen collection
  • Perform point of care testing; maintain and calibrate equipment and supplies
  • Collect specimens including blood, urine, stool, and sputum
  • Administer routine personal hygiene including baths, oral care, and skin care
  • Provide patient nourishment and feed patients as needed
  • Perform tube feedings at the direction of the RN after placement establishment
  • Cleanse and redress non-sterile wounds and assist RN with complex dressing changes

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities including moving, transporting and positioning patients and equipment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent

Nice to Have

  • Completion of a Certified Nurse Aide or Certified Medical Assistant program
  • Basic computer skills
  • Course work in an Allied Health field
  • Ability to read and write
  • 6 months experience in skilled long-term facility/acute care hospital OR Enrolled in a nursing program and have completed fundamentals of nursing course OR 1 year experience short-term care facility (i.e. rehab) OR Completion of a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) program
