About This Role

Provide direct patient care and technical support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, performing delegated medical procedures, assisting with patient needs, and maintaining clinical equipment to improve the quality of patient care services.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain vital signs, temperature, height/length, weight, oxygen saturation, and pain scores, reporting abnormal values to an RN
  • Observe, monitor, and report the overt physical condition of assigned patient(s)
  • Collect specimens including blood, urine, stool, and sputum, and perform point of care testing
  • Assist patients with routine personal hygiene, including baths, oral care, and skin care
  • Perform tube feedings at the direction of the RN after placement establishment
  • Perform intermittent sterile and clean urinary catheterizations; connect, drain, and discontinue urinary catheters
  • Administer cleansing enemas that do not contain medication
  • Cleanse and redress non-sterile wounds; perform simple sterile dressing changes
  • Assist with tracheostomy care on stable tracheostomies including cleaning and redressing
  • Perform post-mortem care and transport deceased patients to the morgue/pathology
  • Stock supplies and equipment in patient care spaces and set up patient rooms
  • Perform as a preceptor/trainer for new patient care technicians

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice to Have

  • Completion of a Certified Nurse Aide or Certified Medical Assistant program
  • Basic computer skills
  • Coursework in an Allied Health field
  • Ability to read and write
  • Progressive knowledge in methods, procedures, materials, and equipment of the designated area
  • Reasonable knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in laboratory and/or patient care activities
