About This Role

Serve as a Patient Care Technician providing patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. This role is ideal for nursing students or CNAs looking to gain experience in a medical/surgical team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patients under RN/LPN supervision
  • Record vital statistics and other basic health information
  • Administer basic health care and medical treatments
  • Assist with basic daily living activities including dressing/undressing, bathing, grooming, and toileting
  • Support meal preparation and dining needs
  • Address emotional and spiritual needs of patients
  • Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms
  • Collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients
  • Prepare patient treatment areas for use
  • Prepare and clean medical equipment
  • Dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy
  • Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare
  • Provide one-on-one care to patients when necessary for safe provision of care

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required department specific competencies and certifications
  • If working in ND and not a CNA, must be on the ND Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or within four months of employment

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies
  • Strong communication, customer service, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
