This role is responsible for providing safe and effective dialysis therapy to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, ensuring compliance with regulations and contributing to process improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing patient-specific education regarding adequacy measures and disease process/access.
- Welcome patients, evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated.
- Obtain pre and post-treatment vital signs and weight, and initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders.
- Evaluate intradialytic problems, monitor patient response, and discontinue dialysis treatment following procedures.
- Record accurate and timely information regarding vital signs and treatment parameters and document patient changes.
- Perform and document interventions for unusual patient status and evaluate vascular access during treatment.
- Obtain all prescribed laboratory testing, clean blood spills, and prepare and utilize supplies efficiently.
- Assist in training applicable direct patient care staff under nursing supervision.
- Maintain environmental integrity, clean and disinfect dialysis machines/equipment, and prepare for treatments.
- Complete and document ongoing participation in CQI activities and accurately enter treatment data.
Requirements
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Meet CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements within required timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any)
- Commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards
- Successful completion of the organization dialysis training program
- Successful completion of CPR certification
Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred.
Nice to Have

Certifications
