Patient Care Technician

About This Role

Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, ensuring compliance with regulations and contributing to a safe, clean working environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing patient education regarding adequacy measures and disease process/access.
• Welcome assigned patients and inquire about their well-being.
• Evaluate vascular access for patency and perform cannulation.
• Obtain necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight.
• Initiate and monitor dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders.
• Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide prescribed interventions.
• Discontinue dialysis treatment according to established procedures.
• Record accurate and timely information regarding vital signs and treatment parameters.
• Report significant information and changes in patient condition to the registered nurse or supervisor.
• Clean and disinfect dialysis machines and surrounding areas between treatments.

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Meet state and/or national certification requirements within CMS timeline

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred.
