About This Role

The Patient Care Technician assists the patient care team by performing routine and non-complex aspects of patient care. This role supports RNs, LPNs, and Physicians in the patient care process within central Alabama's largest healthcare system.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in routine and non-complex aspects of patient care
  • Assist RNs, LPN's, and Physicians in the patient care process
  • Perform additional duties as assigned that are within the scope of the role

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • BLS certification

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • 1 year of experience in a patient care role in an acute care, nursing home or home care setting preferred. Completion of first clinical rotation as a Nurse Student preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Graduate from a certified Nursing Assistant Program or a Health Occupations Program (HOSA)
  • Completion of first clinical rotation as a Nurse Student
  • 1 year of experience in a patient care role in an acute care, nursing home or home care setting
  • Knowledge of body mechanics and basic safety, principles of physical care and comfort
  • Medical terminology training
  • Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
