About This Role

The Patient Access Representative Associate is responsible for greeting patients, collecting demographic and financial data, and entering information into an electronic medical record. This role supports the Allina Health account in partnership with Optum, directly impacting health outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome patients in person
  • Collect demographic and insurance information
  • Check in and interview patients to complete appropriate paperwork
  • Direct patients to their appointment or procedure
  • May assist in scheduling add-on appointments
  • Document issues and resolutions in electronic medical record
  • Resolve claim issues or registration errors on patient accounts
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits information for payers
  • Obtain cost information and explain to patient if necessary
  • Collect co-pay or deductibles and respond to questions regarding financial assistance programs
  • Assist and counsel patients with application process for available financial assistance programs
  • Provide customer service for inbound and outbound telephone calls

Requirements

  • 6+ months of customer service experience in an office/hospital setting
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work an average of 36 hours/week starting at 2:30pm, 3:30pm, and 5:30pm
  • Ability to work every other weekend
  • Ability to work standard daytime hours during the training schedule, for the first 3 weeks upon starting
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Qualifications

  • 6+ months of customer service experience in an office/hospital setting
