Outpatient Registered Nurse - RN

About This Role

This Outpatient Registered Nurse position is an entry-level role responsible for providing and coordinating clinically competent care for assigned patients. The role involves assessing, planning, intervening, and evaluating patient care, particularly within the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) health care team.

Responsibilities

• Perform all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor with guidance from clinical educators or other Registered Nurses
• Conduct ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre-, during-, and post-hemodialysis treatment, documenting findings and making treatment plan adjustments as needed
• Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family's basic learning needs to provide initial and ongoing education
• Direct and provide, in collaboration with patient care staff, safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients
• Administer medications as prescribed or per approved algorithms, documenting medical justification and effectiveness
• Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
• Serve as a resource for the health care team and participate in staff training and orientation of new staff
• Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures, and reschedule missed or insufficient collections
• Identify expected outcomes, document, and update the nursing assessment and plan of care through interdisciplinary team collaboration
• Ensure patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Current appropriate state RN licensure
• Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
• Meet practice requirements in the state of employment

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse, or minimum 9 months experience as an RN and 3 months in chronic/acute hemodialysis as an RN for Team Leader role
