About This Role

The Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) CAP 1 is an entry-level position responsible for providing and coordinating clinically competent care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients, focusing on End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor, or other Registered Nurses.
  • Perform ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre, during, and post hemodialysis treatment for assigned patients, documenting in the patient medical record and making necessary adjustments.
  • Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family's basic learning needs to provide initial and ongoing education.
  • Direct and provide, in collaboration with direct and ancillary patient care staff, all aspects of safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy.
  • Administer medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithm(s), documenting appropriate medical justification and effectiveness.
  • Initiate or assist with emergency response measures.
  • Serve as a resource for the healthcare team and participate in staff training and orientation of new staff.
  • Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures are performed and reschedule missed or insufficient laboratory collections.
  • Identify expected outcomes, document, and update the nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Ensure patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options.
  • Complete CAP requirements to advance.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of RN experience
  • RN active license
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
  • Meet practice requirements in the state of employment

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor's degree in nursing required for FTN Group- International RN.
  • At least 1 year of RN experience or Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse.
