About This Role

This entry-level Registered Nurse (RN) position coordinates and provides clinically competent care for an assigned group of hemodialysis patients as part of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) health care team. The role involves assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care, contributing to decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform essential functions under supervision and with guidance from clinical educators or other registered nurses
  • Systematically collect and analyze patient data pre, during, and post hemodialysis treatment, documenting findings and modifying treatment plans as needed
  • Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family's basic learning needs to provide initial and ongoing education
  • Direct and provide safe and effective hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients in collaboration with patient care staff
  • Administer medications as prescribed or based on approved algorithms, documenting justification and effectiveness
  • Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
  • Serve as a resource for the health care team and participate in staff training and orientation of new staff
  • Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures are performed, rescheduling missed or insufficient collections
  • Identify expected outcomes, document, and update nursing assessments and plans of care for assigned patients through interdisciplinary team collaboration
  • Ensure patient awareness regarding transplant and treatment modality options
  • Complete Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) requirements to advance

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
  • Meet practice requirements in the state of employment

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse

Nice to Have

  • Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience

Certifications

CPR BLS Certification (Required)
