About This Role

The Biomedical Equipment Technician performs scheduled and unscheduled repair and maintenance on all medical equipment, water systems, and physical plant in assigned facilities to ensure patient safety and compliance with regulations. This role involves troubleshooting equipment, managing parts inventory, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and/or oversee timely maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of water treatment equipment, dialysis equipment, ancillary equipment, test equipment, and the physical plant.
  • Coordinate and complete scheduled and unscheduled repair and maintenance of the physical plant by approved vendors.
  • Act as an equipment "trouble-shooter" to identify problems and recommend resolutions.
  • Purchase and maintain an inventory of service parts, ensuring RGA and warranty parts are returned timely.
  • Perform water/dialysate sample collection and processing, reviewing, evaluating, and reporting quality results.
  • Document all daily, weekly, and monthly repair and maintenance activity and repairs.
  • Perform monthly Technical CQI/QAI duties, analyzing data, leading technical discussions, and implementing improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with facility staff to ensure all regulatory and OSHA requirements are met.
  • Manage Program's Medical Supply Inventory by managing par values, performing physical counts, and generating reports.
  • Monitor and review patient care staff's technique for testing the water system.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Successful completion of the Biomedical Technician Education Curriculum and Practicum
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Manual dexterity for using common hand tools and small power equipment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, SAP, TMS)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to take Ishihara's Color Blindness test

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required with successful completion of the Biomedical Technician Education Curriculum and Practicum. Associate or Bachelor Degree in electronics / biomedical technology is a plus.
  • 1-2 years as a Biomedical Technician level I or 2+ years of directly related experience in an industrial/medical technical setting. 1+ years with an Associate Degree, or Bachelor Degree with no experience is acceptable.
