Join Interventional Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation of N.Y., P.C. as a Board-Certified Physiatrist to examine, diagnose, and treat patients needing physical therapy and pain management. Lead a team of medical professionals to optimize patient care and improve functioning.
Responsibilities
- Examine patients that may need to undergo physical therapy
- Diagnose pain as a result of an injury, disease, or a disabling condition
- Determine and implement appropriate treatment plans for patients
- Recommend and perform various medical procedures, such as trigger point, soft tissue, and joint injections
- Lead a team of medical professionals, including physical therapists, to optimize patient care
- Monitor ongoing progress and health of patients, and change treatment plans as necessary
- Perform or monitor the performance of electrodiagnostic testing (EMG - NCV)
- Counsel patients and their families and help them adapt to lifestyle changes
- Order clinically appropriate testing such as X-rays, Cat Scans, Ultrasounds, and MRIs
- Recommend consultation with orthopedists, neurologist, psychologists, spine specialists, and pain management
- Perform initial evaluations to determine a patient’s need and ability to participate in the rehabilitation process
- Conduct periodic re-evaluations of patients to determine progress and for change or discontinuance of treatment
- Prescribe appropriate orthotic devices as clinically indicated and check for proper fitting
- Keep complete medical records of all services provided and the patients’ progress
- Document ranges of motion with a handheld goniometer
Requirements
- M.D./D.O.
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible with American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR)
- Experience with injections and writing prescriptions
- Knowledge about different types of physical rehabilitation treatments and programs
- Ability to treat patients of all ages
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Wonderful bedside manner
- Excellent communication and empathizing skills
- Effective interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Basic computer skills
Qualifications
- M.D./D.O.
- Experience working in an outpatient Musculo-skeletal practice preferred.
