Outdoor Youth Counselor

About This Role

This role is for an Outdoor Youth Counselor to provide therapeutic support and guidance to at-risk teenage girls at a residential wilderness camp. Counselors will live on-site and foster positive relationships with youth to help them navigate personal and educational challenges.

Responsibilities

• Live with girls ages 12 to 17, providing daily hygienic oversight, therapeutic support, and group counseling
• Provide therapeutic support to teenage girls struggling with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, family conflicts, neglect, and poor academic performance
• Provide daily supervision and support to residents in a structured and safe living environment
• Serve as a co-teacher while youth attend the on-site school, monitoring behavior and ensuring a conducive learning environment
• Live on-site and foster positive relationships, guiding and mentoring youth
• Be available for a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, for 24/5 supervision
• Support residents in crisis situations and provide conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University
• Physical ability to stand for extended amounts of time, reside in open-air cabins, and walk regularly throughout wilderness terrain
• Maintain a positive attitude in a wilderness setting with exposure to outdoors and/or weather conditions
• Pass Level 2 background screening through Florida's Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University
