The Career Transition Specialist guides Job Corps assignees through all aspects of career transition, job search, and placement to ensure successful employment, school enrollment, or military entry. This role focuses on helping young people aged 16-24 complete their education and secure meaningful careers.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of career transition for assignees, including job search, placement, and retention.
- Secure placement data for assignees and identify those no longer employed or in school, ensuring reconnection with new opportunities.
- Conduct interviews and re-orientation sessions with students nearing exit, focusing on job search techniques.
- Create and maintain active assignee files, utilizing a tickler system for caseload management and documenting all contacts.
- Familiarize students with CTS processes, employability skills, career preparation, and job opportunities in military, school, and various fields.
- Maintain linkages with military services, One Stops, and other external resources, including job banks, posting job leads, and arranging interviews and support services.
- Perform job development by screening leads from various sources like classifieds, referrals, and the internet.
- Track individual performance through POMS reports to ensure accurate information on all caseload students.
- Complete appeals processes and verify placements to reconcile errors in 6/12-month surveys.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field OR Associate's degree in a closely related field and two years related experience
- Ability to pass a drug screen
- Ability to pass a nationwide criminal background check

- Entry level with a Bachelor's degree, or two years related experience with an Associate's degree
