This Optical Technician role focuses on delivering a world-class patient experience by maximizing retail sales of eyewear and supporting medical needs. The role involves dispensing and fitting glasses and contacts based on prescriptions, ensuring a seamless connection between patient requirements and available products and services.
Responsibilities
- Embrace and execute the Total Patient Experience to build relationships and deliver medical support
- Determine patient wants and needs, selling to exceed expectations
- Assist patients in selecting frames according to style, color, and measurements
- Operate auto-lensometer and manual lensometer to measure lenses
- Educate and recommend specific lenses, coatings, and frames
- Accurately collect measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length, seg heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt
- Dispense patient orders and repair and adjust patient frames
- Dispense all glasses and/or contact lens orders using current process
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year experience interacting with customers/patients
- High school diploma or GED
- Favorable result on background check
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers/patients or equivalent
Nice to Have
- Previous medical office experience
- Previous ophthalmic experience
- ABO certification
- NCLE certification
