About This Role

Provide professional nursing care for oncology patients, adhering to national and company standards. Assess patient needs, provide teaching and psychosocial support, and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices
  • Assess health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients and families
  • Facilitate clinical operations and patient care
  • Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart
  • Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients
  • Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient's chart
  • Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care
  • Assist patients in locating available community resources
  • Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education
  • RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Maintain continuing education requirements
  • Entry level - 0-3 years nursing experience

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
  • 0-3 years nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred
