Implement and develop occupational therapy programs for pediatric populations in educational settings (ages 3-21) to improve their safety and independence.
Responsibilities
- Implement treatment plans and programs with focus on functional and measurable outcomes
- Initiate new program development focusing on needed functional outcomes
- Deliver specialized individual and group occupational therapy instruction as mandated in students’ IEPs
- Collect data and complete reports regarding student goals and progress
- Consult with other professionals on student treatment teams to ensure cohesive therapy
- Assess and document each student’s progress through formal and informal tests and measurements
- Write and prepare annual review reports and goals for each student in accordance with their IEP dates and state guidelines
- Provide occupational therapy expertise when developing FBAs/BIPs
- Provide parent and caregiver support and education on student progress and support strategies
- Attend all school related meetings as scheduled, including Triennials, Annual Reviews, Domain, Referrals, IEP, and pre-IEP meetings
- Perform screenings and evaluations to determine requirements for skilled occupational therapy intervention relative to the client’s level of function
Requirements
- Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise to serve 3-21 year old population
- Appropriate State License
- NYSED Certification Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) OR Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD)
Nice to Have
- Willingness to work with medically fragile for some preschool referrals
