Nutrition Educator 1

About This Role

The Nutrition Educator 1 will educate, train, and engage the community on nutritional health and well-being for limited-resource youth and families. This role involves conducting educational outreach and establishing community partnerships to extend program reach.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutrition and parenting education to limited-resource youth and families in various settings.
• Understand and connect to community resources through collaborations with community agencies and programs for recruiting and assisting program participants.
• Conduct educational outreach focusing on state and federal program priorities to designated target audiences.
• Recruit and enroll limited resource school-aged youth and adults who meet federal eligibility guidelines to participate in EFNEP.
• Teach and lead nutrition education classes and activities in the community to target audiences.
• Establish and maintain partnerships to extend EFNEP outreach with agencies and organizations that serve eligible audiences.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the community to include living within the assigned parish (currently or previously)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and insured automobile
• Basic computer skills
• Effective verbal, written, and listening skills
• Ability to transport supplies and equipment (up to 30 lbs.)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• No specialized training or experience required.
