This Communications Officer role provides technical advice on computer operations and the trunked radio system, ensuring proper database verification of radio assignments. The position monitors and diagnoses system failures and notifies agents of hazardous situations.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice on personal computer-based operations
- Provide technical advice on the operations of the trunked radio system
- Complete necessary forms to maintain proper up-to-date verification of radio assignments
- Monitor, diagnose, and repair problems causing radio system, telephone system, or computer system failure
- Monitor hazardous weather and/or other situations and notify area agents
- Receive and respond to informational requests by officers/agents
- Receive, analyze, prioritize, and respond to general public complaints and inquiries
- Alert the nearest officer/agent, dispatch to location, and relay information
- Search, enter, modify, and delete computerized records in the appropriate computer database
- Maintain proper record-keeping and update the desk log during communications
Requirements
- Six months of experience in transmitting and receiving messages by radio or in administrative services OR Six months of training in a business or clerical-related curriculum OR Fifteen semester hours of college training
- Ability to obtain Terminal Operator Certification/re-certification within six months of employment
Qualifications
- Six months of training in a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute; OR Fifteen semester hours of college training
- Six months of experience in transmitting and receiving messages by radio or in administrative services
