About This Role

Lead nursing practice and administrative direction for nursing staff in Ambulatory Care Units, focusing on daily assessment of nursing work, continuous improvement of healthcare services, and alignment with Michigan Medicine's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, counsel, performance management, and complete performance evaluations for nursing staff
  • Create job postings, recruit, interview, and select nurses in collaboration with the triad leadership team
  • Manage staffing/scheduling and vacation time for nursing staff
  • Manage orientation and competency evaluation for new hires
  • Serve as a role model, mentor, and expert resource to nursing and assistive staff in direct patient care
  • Provide leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practice standards and interdisciplinary clinical guidelines
  • Participate in the planning and problem-solving of daily unit operations and patient service priorities
  • Assure compliance with regulatory program standards related to nursing
  • Participate in and conduct the analysis of data to improve care management
  • Facilitate the education of health sciences students and develop professionally through continuing education

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan
  • Minimum of five (5) years RN experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent (within the last 5 years) clinical experience in an ambulatory clinic setting
  • Nurse Leadership certification or completion within two (2) years of accepting this position

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing OR Associate's degree or diploma in Nursing and a master's degree in nursing
  • Minimum of five (5) years RN experience, including at least two (2) years of recent (within the last 5 years) clinical experience in an ambulatory clinic setting

Nice to Have

  • 5-7 Years Of Progressive Clinical Experience
  • Experience in high-risk obstetrics / Maternal-Fetal Medicine
  • Experience in Antepartum/Postpartum care
  • Experience in Fetal diagnostics
  • Experience with Perinatologists / MFM physicians, Genetic counselors, Neonatology/NICU teams
  • Experience with Complex maternal comorbidities
  • Two (2) years of recent clinical experience in an ambulatory pediatric clinic setting
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and support clinical innovation within Maternal-Fetal Medicine and women’s health setting
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including creative and effective problem-solving
  • Previous supervisory/management experience
  • Two (2) years or greater experience in a nursing leadership role
  • Experience in managing budgets, aligning resources
  • Experience with telephone triage
  • Master's in nursing
  • Certification in specialty or ambulatory care
  • Evidence of demonstrated or potential leadership ability
  • Active participant in professional organizations
  • Experience with Epic or MiChart
  • Previous experience in the application of evidence-based medicine
