Nursing Laboratory Technician

About This Role

The Nursing Laboratory Technician assists in maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory, schedules student experiences, and prepares supplies for lab simulations. This role ensures realism in simulations, troubleshoots A/V equipment, and trains Standardized Patients.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining the laboratory simulation equipment
• Responsible for the care and safe use of patient simulators and all equipment and supplies in the laboratory
• Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and stock
• Assist with scheduling and managing workflow in labs
• Ensure realism through moulage, equipment, fluids, environment, etc.
• Report all technical or program issues that arise to supervisor
• Operate and troubleshoot A/V equipment
• Schedule, train and educate Standardized Patients (SPs) on simulations based on best practices
• Oversee student workers’ schedule and assign duties as appropriate

Requirements

• Associates degree in the medical field or a related field
• Two years of experience in the medical or a related field
• Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, inventory procedures, and recordkeeping procedures
• Basic computer software knowledge and application
• Basic knowledge of video recorder and digital camera
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing

Qualifications

• Associates degree in the medical field or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in the medical or a related field
