Nursing Assistant - Float

About This Role

Provide essential clinical support and direct patient care at WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital, assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, and performing specific medical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients, including activities of daily living and IV/catheter removal
• Monitor patient condition levels; recognize and report changes to the registered nurse
• Perform purposeful hourly rounds to identify and address patient needs
• Obtain and electronically document patient vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight, respiration, pulse)
• Train and precept new employees
• Perform Point-of-Care testing (blood glucose, hemocult, specific gravity) and maintain related records
• Prepare patients for tests, procedures, etc. and transport them to various locations
• Collect specimens using appropriate equipment
• Perform EKGs and transmit studies
• Obtain and remove equipment and supplies necessary for patient care
• Maintain and store equipment appropriately, completing electronic repair requests
• Maintain par levels of supplies and equipment on assigned unit(s) and notify supervisor when reorder points are reached
• Stock patient rooms, nursing areas, and supply carts with appropriate items

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Less than 1 year relevant experience
• Basic Life Support certification

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Less than 1 year relevant experience

Nice to Have

• Certified Nurse Aide certification
